Of Cow Warriors and Idiots There are three types of online gamers, first, the hardcore idiots with no life outside of the game. Second, the moderate player who has no life outside of the game. Third, infrequent players with no life outside of the game. Let me illustrate an example of a miserable person with an addiction to the game called World of Warcraft. He is a cow. A warrior. Difficult to picture? OK, imagine a huge cow walking on 2, carrying huge swords and whacking monsters, as well as other players’ characters in the form of humans/elves/orcs/cows/trolls, to death. Gross? Not really. Rather amusing, in fact. So this cow roams the realm of WoW from morning to nightfall…no, the next morning. He associates with other players in some organization called a guild. It’s like an organization of kids pretending to act serious as big shots telling people what to do, discussing about game stuff as if it were something of a life or death nature. Heck, they even have guild politics, rules and charters too. Our cow here is one of the highest ranked so-called "officers" in this guild, by the way. Our cow has no time for other things in life. He is either busy with WoW, WoW guild, or sleeping. Perhaps not even a nuclear bomb will move him away from his computer (provided the bomb doesn’t hit them). This cow also has a family. Yes, a family, regrettably. They have lost the real person behind the cow, and what they have left is this cow warrior killing stuff around. The cow doesn’t contribute to the family income. He quitted his job and owed the Singapore government $20K as a result, and has no interest in finding a new job. He has no interest in rearing his child or providing financial support for him, and he beats up people (regardless of age, family relations, or gender) who reminded him of that, just because it made him feel bad. And then he would quickly return to the cyberworld to forget about the bitterness of reality. The cow is doing great in the realms of WoW. People recognize him and cheer for him. They like him, and wanted him to lead their game. He's defeated dragons, demon lords, and whatever nonsense creatures p can think of. He’s doing very well, no doubt on that. But in real life, you’d wonder who he is, or what he is. Thus, he has no interest in the real world, continually seeking pleasures from fake approvals and vain hopes. Logging on each day without fail to the cyber realms of WoW, waiting for the day his family runs out of means to support him, until he finally starves to death while logged on into the cyberworld. Either that or he goes insane and commits suicide first. A pathetic person? Not quite. He’s surviving happily on his family’s money, on a few spoonfuls of rice each day, playing WoW like there is no tomorrow. He laughs, he jokes around, he leads people, he wins battles, and boy isn't he enjoying it. Well, he may be a mess, but he’s happy. (*shrugs*) 1 Comments:
